🎬 Reel Review: F1 The Movie

F1: The Movie is built for speed and spectacle. Brad Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, a retired Formula One driver called back for one last run. It’s pure underdog formula—but with enough horsepower to make it feel fresh.
Director Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) shoots the hell out of the racing: real tracks, real cars, no green screen shortcuts. The cockpit POVs hit hard. The tension feels real. Pitt’s easy charm grounds the movie, and Damson Idris holds his own as the rising star. Javier Bardem adds grit, and Kerry Condon adds heart, but the script leans on sports drama autopilot. You’ve seen this arc before—washed-up legend, tough comeback, rookie tension—but it’s executed cleanly.
It’s sports drama done with polish, speed, and heart. It won’t surprise you, but it will grip you. Mitten Rating: 8.5 out of 10.
