🎥 Reel Review: Stealing Pulp Fiction

Stealing Pulp Fiction doesn’t reinvent the heist movie, but it’s not trying to. It’s a niche comedy built for film nerds, and while the laughs aren’t always sharp, the charm mostly carries it through. The plot is simple: three obsessive friends plan a dumb, borderline pointless heist to steal a 35mm print of Pulp Fiction. It’s more about hanging out with these weirdos than pulling off anything impressive.
Cazzie David is the MVP—her dry sense of humor keeps things grounded. Karan Soni and Jon Rudnitsky bring loose energy, and the cast has chemistry, even when the script doesn’t. The movie throws around Tarantino references like candy but doesn’t dig any deeper than surface-level homage. It’s not smart enough to be a satire, not silly enough to be a spoof.
There’s no real tension, and some bits drag. But there’s something oddly comforting about how low the stakes are. It’s a movie about loving movies, even if it doesn’t have much new to say.
