🎥 Reel Review – Eye for an Eye

Eye for an Eye sets the stage with grief and folklore, then gets lost in its own fog. Whitney Peak plays a teenager sent to live with her blind grandmother after a tragedy. The town has a legend — Mr. Sandman — a ghost story that turns out to be real and deadly.

The setup works. The mood is intense. However, the pacing is slow, and the scares feel underdeveloped. Whitney Peak gives it everything. S. Epatha Merkerson grounds the whole thing with quiet strength. The creature design is cool, but the script never digs deep enough. It flirts with themes about justice and trauma but never commits.

By the time things get moving, it’s already too late. It promises reckoning and only delivers flashes of it. It’s a great setup, but the payoff is weak. Mitten’s Rating: 5.8 out of 10.
