Reel Review: Dangerous Animals

Dangerous Animals doesn’t waste time—a surfer, a psycho, and a deserted stretch of coast—no frills, no filler. Hassie Harrison plays Zephyr, a lone traveler whose trip turns into a nightmare when she crosses paths with Tucker (Jai Courtney), a predator who masks charm with menace. What follows is less a shark movie and more a survival horror dressed in salt and blood.
It’s brutal in a lean way. No over-explanation, no backstory dumps. There is just tension, violence, and the kind of pacing that makes 90 minutes feel tight. Harrison holds the screen with grit, not speeches. Courtney hasn’t been this good in years—calm, terrifying, and too believable.
The movie doesn’t try to be clever, and that’s what works. It’s simple, mean, and focused. Mitten’s Verdict: Sand, blood, no-nonsense. This one’s got bite. Rated: 6.4 out of 10.
